A poker game always starts with the player that sits in the dealer's left. And the game goes on in the direction of the clock.

When a betting round starts, the player has five options:

-- to FOLD, this means that the player puts down the cards, he gives up his hand and the chance to win the central pot.

-- to CHECK, if a bet hasn't been made, a player can 'check', this is something between 'bet' and 'fold'. Then the player in your left has three options: 'fold', 'bet' or 'check'.

-- to BET, if no bet has been made so far, a player can bet, by putting money in the central pot.

-- to CALL, means that you can match the bet that was made by another player before you.

-- to RAISE; means that the player can increase the bet that was made by another player before you.

After the betting round are over, every player that has not folded will have to show his hand to the other player, and the best hand wins the central pot.

This part of the game is called SHOWDOWN. The player that has placed the first bet is the one that has to show his cards first, after this in clockwise rotation all the players show their cards (Omaha Rules).

A player can also choose not to show his cards if he is sure he is not going to win, in this case he mucks his cards. But in order to win at poker, a person must know what are the winning hands in poker:

--HIGH CARD- in case you do not have other combinations of cards, the highest card is your hand.
--PAIR- two cards with the same rank, but different color.
--TWO PAIRS- two couple of simple pairs.
--THREE OF A KIND- three cards with the same rank
--STRAIGHT-this means five cards in numerical sequence. The color has no importance.
--FLUSH-five cards of the same suit
--FULL HOUSE-this hand is a very good one, it means you have in your hand three of a kind and a pair
--FOUR OF A KIND-four cards of the same rank
--STRAIGHT FLUSH-five cards in numerical sequence of the same suit
--ROYAL FLUSH-this means: 10, J, Q, K, A of the same suit
--FIVE OF A KIND-this hand is possible only in the games with wild cards, and it means that you have five cards of the same rank. A wild card is Joker, for example.
